I guess I should start this out by saying that I'm always amazed that people make the commitment to participate is something as big and time consuming as a musical. My frustration is that people make the commitment without thinking about how much time it takes. I don't say this because of any particular person or event, but more because it never ceases to astound me that we manage to create what we do with the sometimes here, sometimes not here or our rehearsals.
Here is what it is like from the director and choreographer side. We spend a rehearsal learning a piece of music or movement that will be turned into choreography for one of the songs, the next rehearsal when we want to build on the last rehearsal we instead have to go back and relearn what we did the night before because four or five people weren't there. Now I know that I'll approve someone not not being at a rehearsal, what I ask is that you take the personal responsibility to to learn what you missed on your own time.
If you need to miss one or more rehearsals, I do understand, I know you all have other lives and families and jobs. I don't fault you at all for not being there, but please, please, please contact another cast member, or come to the office and I'll work with you to get caught up so we can stay on track with our rehearsals.
We all want a really stellar show, I know that. Thanks to all the cast for lending us your talent to make Pirates fun and entertaining for everyone.
